What are the ad’s strengths?
One of the ads strengths is that it is a clean design on a probably cluttered feed. Another strength is the headline, which will draw people in. “Only $1 / day for clearer skin”, people want inexpensive solutions to their everyday problems. Giving an inexpensive solution is a great strength. Another strength is their “Shop Now” button. This will lead their customers exactly where they want them to go.
What are the ad’s weaknesses?
One weakness is that this ad doesn’t really explain why Nerd Skin Care is special. I watched their viral video so I know, but someone else seeing this ad may not. They kind of allude to it in the description when they say their “innovative” system, but everyone says that. In the description box it starts talking about it more, but not enough to really explain.
What is the ad trying to accomplish with its design?
The ad features a very clean minimal design which is great for what it’s advertising which is clean skin. This ad is designed to stand out among a cluttered facebook page and entice you to shop their products. It’s designed with a catchy headline and a shop button to do just that.
The design uses rule of thirds by placing three products each on a thirds line. They also effectively put the products in order of height to create visual appeal. The shadow is a nice touch as well.
What metrics (likes, shares, re-tweets, etc.) will be used to determine if the ad is successful?
Nerd skincare had another ad that was really popular. It was a funny video ad. I had watched it and so, because of that I’m probably in their sales funnel. This is the ad their showing to people who have already been introduced to their product and they’ve already made a viral video. So this ads goal is probably not to get tons of shares and go viral, they already did that. They chose to have a shop button, so I’m going to say their ad will be determined to be successful if they have a high conversion rate and a low cost per conversion.
